Sam Simonton '17 - Takes World Cup Women's Skeet Championship
Sam Simonton '17 captured the Women's Skeet Championship at the 2024 ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation) World Cup Final, which took place in New Delhi, India, on October 17, 2024. This prestigious tournament features only athletes ranked among the top 10 in their respective events. Sam has participated in four World Cup Finals throughout her career, earning a bronze medal in 2022 and achieving her first gold medal in 2024. She has also been an alternate for the Olympic teams at the Paris 2024 and Tokyo 2020 Games. Looking ahead, she aims to secure a spot in the Los Angeles 2028 Games. Sam was part of Lakeview's inaugural clay target team and was the state champion for several years.
Jeremy Adams '03
Big congratulations are extended to Jeremy Adams '03, UGA '07, who was also recognized as a University of Georgia 40 Under 40! Jeremy is the Senior Managing Director at Jones, Lang and Lasalle where he specializes in commercial real estate tenant representation and works with a wide variety of space users — from large healthcare systems to multi-site specialty groups, professional service firms, and rapidly growing portfolio companies. He has been honored several times by the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors as Rookie of the Year, Innovator of the Year and a Beacon Award recipient. He is shown with his wife Britt. Congratulations Jeremy!
Loree Anne Thompson Paradise '07
Loree Anne Thompson Paradise '07 was recently honored by the University of Georgia as one of their 40 Under 40 alumni. A 2011 UGA graduate with a degree in journalism with a minor in music, Loree Anne is the Chief of Staff for Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones. She is also involved with Leadership Georgia and serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Cobb County, advocating for kids going through dependency hearings in juvenile court cases.
Hunter Clarke '17
Hunter Clarke '17 completed her Doctorate in Education in Applied Educational Studies-Aviation and Space Education from Oklahoma State University 2 days after her 24th birthday. Her manuscript (a condensed version of her dissertation) was accepted and published to the Collegiate Aviation Review International, making it her first published article as Dr. Clarke. She is currently employed at Textron Aviation in Wichita, Kansas as an Intellectual Properties Specialist, working with aviation trade secrets and patents for plans being built. She also teaches aviation at Oklahoma State University and Middle Georgia College.
Celia Wilson Patino '22
Celia Wilson-Patino ' 22 received her Bachelor of Science degree in December, 2023, from the Georgia Institute of Technology. One of Tech's youngest alumni, Celia was one of only 34 students to graduate having completed all the requirements of Tech’s selective Honors Program. She earned “Distinction in Global Engagement,” for excelling in coursework with intercultural themes. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, the Stamps Health Services Student Ambassadors, and was also the captain of GT's Equestrian Team.
Adeline Horton '20
Adeline Horton ’20 is a senior at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and will graduate from the Hammack School of Business in May ’24. A recipient of the prestigious Hammack Scholarship, Adeline has balanced a busy schedule of classes, internships and playing for the Stormy Petrels women’s tennis team. After graduation, she will join Carroll Daniel Construction full time as a project engineer, overseeing a new 700,000 square foot manufacturing facility for Kubota.
Alec Bornhorst '18 - Academic All Region player
Alec Bornhorst '18 attended Miami University of Ohio, where he was a member of the 2019 MAC Championship Team. He graduated in 2021 with a finance degree and a minor in information securities. He currently attends the University of Findlay where he plays Quarterback for the Findlay Oilers. In the 2022 season, he appeared in 9 games. For the 2023 season, Alec started all 11 games, served as a Team Captain, and was a 2 time Academic All Region player. He is finishing his master’s degree in applied security and analytics.
Coleman Pethel '18
Coleman Pethel ‘18 graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and is currently pursuing a M.S. in the same. He has been involved as a research assistant in the Combustion Lab, the Yellow Jacket Flying Club, the club disc golf team, and his church Grace Midtown. Throughout college, Coleman also spent six summers at WinShape Camps in Mt. Berry, serving two summers as the Camper Care Leader. He is continuing a co-op at Delta Air Lines in propulsion engineering working on new repair procedures, reliability initiatives, and innovative problem-solving in jet engines to keep the planes flying safely.
Millie Filson '22 - SEC Champion
Millie Filson '22 is a psychology major at the University of Georgia and a midfielder for the Women’s Soccer Team. During her freshman season, she played in 15 games with 3 starts. She was named to the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll, Dean’s List and J. Reid Parker Academic Honor Roll. This season, she helped the Lady Dawgs win their first SEC Championship!
Mary Jennings '00
Mary Jennings ’00 is a talented singer, songwriter and bolo tie maker, who lives in Nashville with her husband Dave Filipe and their daughter Eliza. Mary released her latest album “Matriarch” in 2021 and has performed at numerous Nashville venues as well as across the country at music festivals such as CMJ and South by Southwest. Her work has been featured in commercials, tv shows and movies. A love of thrifting drove her to create No Sass Creations, where she sells bolo ties and other upcycled accessories.
