Dyslexia Support Program
Lakeview Academy is steadfastly committed to excellence in the personal growth and academic development of today’s student. Guided by this mission, The Keystone Program offers a unique learning opportunity for students with mild language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia.
As a school, we believe an essential part of our students’ long-term educational success is thoughtful consideration of their future academic journey. The goal of The Keystone Program is to provide our students with the tools and support they need to be successful both now and in the years to come.

Classroom Design
All Keystone classrooms are designed with our students in mind. From the furniture to sound mitigation to paint colors, all decisions were made in consultation with an occupational therapist to maximize the learning environment for our students.
Auditory and visual inputs are managed through a minimalist approach and lighting is softened. Movement opportunities through flexible seating and engagement are provided to students throughout their day.
Program Highlights
- Class sizes maximum of 5-6 students per class
- Reading and writing instruction led by Orton-Gillingham trained educators
- Math instruction led by educators trained in Level 1 Multi-Sensory Math
- Movement curriculum developed and led by occupational therapists

Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (SB10)
What is SB10 and who is eligible?SB10 (State Bill 10), also known as the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship (GSNS), is a scholarship funded by the State that provides students in Georgia who have a special education eligibility under IDEA to use the funds the district would have received from the state to pay for tuition at an authorized, participating private school. SB10 also allows eligible students to transfer to another public school in their district, another public school district, or a state school.

What private schools are approved?There is a list provided by the state (and updated annually) for parents to utilize when looking at private school options. You can find the list by clicking here.
How can I find out my child’s SB10 award letter and amount?Parents can use the SB10 Calculator and enter their child’s information to generate their SB10 Award Letter. The SB10 calculator can be found by clicking here.
What do parents have to do to receive SB10 funds?Parents who opt to utilize SB10 funds to help offset the cost of tuition at an approved, participating private school will be required to come to their chosen approved and participating private school once a quarter to sign the back of the SB10 check. All SB10 checks are sent directly to the participating private school. Once parents sign the back of the check, the private school will apply the amount of the check to the student’s tuition account.

The yearly award amount noted in the award letter is not applied all at one time or at the very beginning of the school year/date of enrollment. The payment schedule from the state can be found by clicking here.What is required of parents by the GaDOE?Parents are required to pay all associated costs over and above their child’s SB10 award. Additionally, parents must make all payments toward their child’s tuition account promptly per the school’s payment plan contract/schedule. Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program
What is Georgia GOAL Scholarship and who is eligible?The Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program provides tuition scholarships to children who desire to attend private K-12 schools. To qualify for receipt of a scholarship, a student must be a Georgia resident who is currently enrolled in and has attended a Georgia public school for at least 6 weeks immediately prior to receiving a scholarship or tuition grant under this law. GOAL Scholarships are awarded on the basis of financial need. GOAL provides its participating schools with scholarship award guidelines based upon family size and adjusted gross income. The Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program does not accept applications directly from parents or guardians. Once the participating school is aware of your qualification for the scholarship, the School will recommend a student to receive a GOAL Scholarship.
Click here for more information about the GOAL Scholarship eligibility requirements.What happens when a family receives a Georgia GOAL Scholarship?When GOAL approves a scholarship recommendation, a GOAL Scholarship Agreement is sent to school officials for execution by the parents, an authorized school official, and GOAL. Before your child begins attending classes, parents of new GOAL scholarship recipients are required to electronically sign the GOAL Scholarship Agreement. Parents of GOAL scholarship recipients are also required to electronically endorse the scholarship payment.
At the beginning of each school year for which a scholarship is awarded, the participating school and GOAL again consider the financial need of the scholarship family and determine a scholarship award amount for the subsequent school years.

Meet the Keystone Program Faculty and Staff
Kelly Fields, M.Ed., Ed.S. is a veteran Special Educator, with 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in the public-school setting. She served and supported students with varying levels of needs and disabilities in her 20 years of public school teaching and leadership roles. She has served our Lower School as a Learning Support Teacher since 2022 and is humbled by the opportunity to lead and serve our students and teachers in the Keystone Program this Fall. Recently, she successfully completed her Level 1 Multi-Sensory Math training under the tutelage of Marilyn Zecker, CALT.
