Lady Lions are Hoopfest Champions!

In one of the most physical games of the tournament, the Lakeview Lady Lions held the Lanier Christian Lightning scoreless until the final quarter to capture the Thanksgiving Hoopfest tournament title. Leading Lakeview, Teagan Hicks's explosive performance led to 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Catherine Rowland Williams had a pair of rebounds as she and Mary Evan Simpson each added 6 points. Kate Chittaro contributed 3 rebounds and 4 steals, two of which she converted into a pair of layups. Aiden Penland's defensive play led to 3 steals to add to her rebound and 2 points. Rhodes Williams's rebound, 2 steals, and 2 points added to the win along with Hallie Hudgins' pair of points. Eli Poole hit a free throw after being fouled to the ground shooting a three-pointer. Jansyn Purdy pulled down three rebounds and added a steal to Skylar Pleasant's pair of rebounds and impressive 4 steals.

After tallying the wins and losses, it was determined that Lakeview would play Lanier Christian again in the Championship game. The Lightning chose to forfeit the game and take second in the tournament awarding the tournament win to the Lady Lions.

After the Thanksgiving break, the A, B, and JV teams will play at Lanier Christian on Friday, Dec. 6 for a triple header.
